  1. To make students capable of analyzing development theories, concepts, debates and issues in the field of globalization, economic transformation, socio-cultural and political changes and environmental impacts.
  2. To build multifaceted critical and constructive intellectual capacity among learners regarding development policies, strategies, plans and projects. 
  3. To facilitate students in developing the skills required to undertake development research activities with a focus on appropriate methodology, data collection, policy design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  4. To equip graduates to pursue careers in teaching, research, policy advocacy, full-time or freelance consultancy and management of development organizations.
